I first became fascinated with tattooing and the idea of being a tattoo artist in high school right around the year 1995 and got my first shop tattoo around the same time. Growing up around interesting characters, I came across a prison style tattoo “gun.” I took it apart and built my own using a sharpened guitar string for the needle. That didn’t last long since I got caught with the “gun” and it was confiscated. A few years later I got some equipment by mail and for 3 months I was at it again on my own. Circumstances caused me to give it up one again and I had to get a “real” job. After years of hating my jobs I was put in a position to figure something out. I hated every job that I took on so in 2011 I said it’s this or nothing. This being: swallowing my pride and working for free and even moving into the tattoo shop during my tattoo apprenticeship.
Originally from San Francisco, I took on an apprenticeship in October of 2011 in Pasadena, CA and ended up back in SF in 2013 and spent 3 years at One Shot Tattoo.
I now call NYC home and am excited to be a part of the Red Rocket crew!
